4/3/22 Mahabharata Class Notes

CMP Bala Vihar® Grade 8A

Class 26 : Summary

  • RAW review: Attachment to our likes/dislikes: We talked about how attachment to our likes and dislikes makes us clingy and how what we love or hate comes in the way of our doing the right thing or our duty. We discussed some examples, and highlighted how inspecting our likes and dislikes constantly and keeping control over them is important. We discussed many tips on how to let go of tempting and pleasant things that distract, and how to tackle unpleasant, yet necessary tasks.

  • Story: We started Drona Parva. We highlighted how Drona resolved to capture Yudhishtira alive for Duryodhana - but was checked by Arjuna. We narrated the heroic tale of Abhimanyu and how the treacherous Kaurava warriors broke all the rules and killed him.

  • Reflection: We reflected on Abhimanyu's valor and remarkable talent and dedication and sacrifice for the Pandavas and Dharma. We analyzed the many devious ways of winning the Kauravas resorted to. We also addressed Arjuna's risky vow.

  • RAW: Is winning everything?: Is cheating worth it? Why does one cheat or break rules? Have you broken rules? What should you do when faced with failure?
