5/8/22 Mahabharata Class Notes

CMP Bala Vihar® Grade 8A

Class 30 : Summary

  • RAW review: There are no real Winners in war. In what sense? Krishna declares, Dharma wins. What does that mean?: We discussed how regardless of who is the victor in war, both sides take casualties and sacrifice quite a lot physically and emotionally. However, at a global level, in the Big picture, Dharma is established, by eliminating evil forces and thought.

  • Story: We narrated stories from the Stree parva, Santi parva, Anushasana parva, Aswamedika parva and Ashrama vasika parva. Mainly covered how Pandavas reconcile with Dhritarashtra and Gandhari and ease their pain. Yudhishtira is crowned King and receives final teachings from Bhishma before he passes away, and Yudhishtira establishes his rule and becomes the model King. After 15 years of his rule, the elders like Kunti, Gandhari, Dhritarashtra and Vidura leave for the forests.

  • Reflection: We reflected on Gandhari's pain and the curse she imposes on Krishna holding him accountable for all that happened. Kids should see - how we blame others or God instead of looking back at our own actions. Law of Karma is a very important tenet of Sanatana Dharma - which forces us to focus on our actions. Even God cannot protect us from our past Karma.
